This tour represents a blend of culture, history, religion, and nature of Montenegro. First off, we are going to one of the most important Orthodox sanctuaries of spiritual life in former Yugoslavia, the Ostrog Monastery.
From afar, Ostrog looks like it rises from the cold stone and its white walls stand out from the dark cliffs that surround it. Ostrog monastery was founded by St Basil who later become St Basil of Ostrog Monastery (Sv Vasilije Ostroski). Here you will see the lower and the upper Monasteries, attracting special attention from millions of tourists and pilgrims every year. In the upper Monastery, there are two churches, each of them representing important religious sites filled with frescoes and relics of Saint Basil, and it is even believed that a piece of the cross Christ was crucified on was given to the church. You will admire the combination of the perfect blend of nature and religion in Monastery, bow to the miracle religious ornaments, and find out more about St Basil’s life and cult, spread among the believers of all three confessions.
After this spiritually profound visit, our next stop will be something quite different, calming, and untouched nature of the River Crnojevica. Following the road to the fisherman’s village of Rijeka Crnojevica, you’ll be amazed by the mesmerizing view that follows us all the way to it. The photo stops are a must here because the view from the old authentic road is one of the most beautiful panoramic views in our country.
The journey along the Crnojevića is not just a feast for the eyes but also a voyage through history. This river holds stories of centuries past, its banks dotted with remnants of ancient settlements and traditional stone bridges. As you explore the area, you might come across the quaint village of Rijeka Crnojevića, where time seems to stand still. Here, narrow streets lead you past charming houses adorned with climbing vines, and the local hospitality welcomes you to discover the rich cultural tapestry of the region. By taking a stroll around the village you will have the opportunity to wander around ancient bridges and architecture and have a taste of local fish specialties at our friend’s restaurant. For our way back we again choose another route that follows the beautiful nature and sunset over the seaside.
