For this tour, we are embarking on a trip that will lead us to a perfect moment in time, where the river Bojana collides into the sea, the perfect match with the most memorable sunset of them all.
From our starting point on the coast, we follow the panoramic ride, and the first photo stop will be above Islet Stefan.
Originally a fortified village, Sveti Stefan dates to the 15th century and has long been a sanctuary for fishermen and merchants. The island is connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, creating a sense of seclusion that has made it a coveted hideaway for travelers seeking tranquility and inspiration. Its cobblestone streets, quaint stone houses, and terracotta roofs evoke a sense of nostalgia, inviting visitors to wander and lose themselves in its timeless beauty. Each stone tells a story, echoing the resilience and spirit of the people who have called this island home for centuries. The charming island village, with its narrow alleys and breathtaking sea views, has evolved into a luxurious resort, blending the old with the new while maintaining its unique character.
After this, we will visit Manastir Rezevici and take a walk through its churches (Uspenje Bogorodice and Saint Trinity) and the monastery itself. The churches are known for their fresco paintings and beautiful gardens that we will enjoy, and the monastery is under the protection of UNESCO.
We continue our trip to Bar, an important port city on the coast of Montenegro. Our main goal old town Bar in Montenegro, a hidden gem on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, is a captivating blend of history and charm. Perched on a hillside, this ancient town boasts a rich tapestry of cultures that have shaped its landscape over centuries. As you wander through its narrow, winding streets, you’ll encounter the remnants of its medieval past, including crumbling stone walls and the impressive St. George’s Church, which dates to the 12th century. The scenic views of the surrounding mountains and the sparkling Adriatic Sea create a stunning backdrop for exploration. The town’s unique blend of Venetian, Ottoman, and Roman influences is evident in its architecture, making every corner a visual delight. Olive trees and fragrant herbs add to the allure, inviting visitors to pause and soak in the serene atmosphere.
Old Town Bar is not just a place to visit; it’s a journey through time, where the echoes of history whisper in the breeze. As the sun sets, casting a warm glow over the ancient stones, the town comes alive with a sense of magic, reminding all who visit of Montenegro’s rich heritage and natural beauty. After leaving these ivy-cloaked paved paths, we continue our request to another old monument, but this is one of peace. The Old Olive tree is a symbol of the city Bar and is the oldest tree in Europe. It is believed that it has been there for over 2000 years. The legend of the Old Olive tree says that feuding families would come to it, and this is the place where they would make peace. When we come back from our time travel trip, we continue our run for the Sun. Depending on the weather, we can surely visit Long Beach, (Velika Plaža) in Ulcinj and the island of Ada Bojana are two of Montenegro’s most enchanting coastal treasures, where the Adriatic Sea meets endless stretches of golden sand and untouched nature. These locations offer a sanctuary for those who seek the serene beauty of wide-open spaces and the vibrant energy of the sea.
Just a short distance away lies Ada Bojana, a unique triangular island formed by the delta of the Bojana River. This natural paradise is famous for its unspoiled beauty, where the river meets the Adriatic in a serene dance of water and light. Ada Bojana’s sandy shores are perfect for those seeking a more secluded retreat, a place where the rhythm of life slows down, and nature reigns supreme. Its beaches are bathed in sunlight, while the backdrop of old fisherman’s houses on stilts adds a touch of rustic charm to the landscape. Ada Bojana is also a culinary destination, renowned for its seafood restaurants serving freshly caught fish, grilled to perfection in an authentic Montenegrin style. Finally, return is planned to follow the beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean Sea.
