Boka Bay Roots

After you had a good night’s sleep and fueled your energy with breakfast, we kick off the day with a tour of the old town of Kotor. As soon as we start our story and take the first steps on its ancient passages, you will understand why Kotor is under the protection of UNESCO and ranked as a number 1 must-visit place in the world by Lonely Planet. Kotor, nestled at the foot of majestic mountains along the Adriatic coast, is a stunning blend of history and natural beauty. Kotor old town features narrow, winding streets, ancient stone walls, and charming squares that echo centuries of maritime heritage. The striking Cathedral of Saint Tryphon and the impressive fortifications that rise above the town offer breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor, often regarded as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Following the panoramic ride of the Bay of Kotor, our next destination is Perast, once one of the most powerful and wealthiest villages on the Adriatic coast. We will continue with a boat ride to the beautiful island of Our Lady of The Rocks and its church. Our next stop is a bit luxurious one in Tivat, Porto Montenegro. As we finish our day you will have constant panoramic views and the opportunity to catch quite a few viewpoints at various attractive locations before returning to the starting point.

DURATION 5 HOURS

International Bird Airport

We made it possible to connect two different adventures and landscapes in one day, the panoramic ride above the sea and Rivera on one side and the largest lake on the Balkan peninsula, Skadar lake on the other. The first transfer is to a photo stop above the famous islet Sveti Stefan. The islet itself is quite exclusive, because it belongs to Aman Resorts, and we have a chance to visit and feel its magic from the inside (optional). After a short drive, we continue to our next stop Monastery Rezevici. We will take a walk through two churches (Uspenje Bogorodice and Saint Trinity) and the monastery itself. The churches are known for their fresco paintings and beautiful gardens and the monastery is under the protection of UNESCO. The path leads us further to Petrovacka Gora with a few photo viewpoints, after which we head towards our main event of the day, the visit of Lake Skadar and the old fisherman’s village Virpazar. From here we’ll embark on a boat trip on a unique lake ride with lunch included. Soon as you start your journey on the boat, you’ll end encounter with the flora and fauna of paradise-rich habitats of many birds, fish, and plant endemic species. Soon you will realize why it is called the International Birds Airport. After this, we returned to the hotel in Budva with the constant panoramic ride.

Heartland of Montenegro

After breakfast, we are going to visit the very heart of Montenegro, it’s Old Royal capital Cetinje and one of our most beautiful mountains and National parks, Lovcen. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic drive from the Riviera and sea landscapes to the highest peaks of Lovcen. In Cetinje, you will have a chance to get acquainted with the history of Montenegro and its old ways during the visits to the National Museum, King Nikola’s Palace, several old embassies, the Monastery, and a few other important locations. From Cetinje, we continue our journey through the untouched nature of the National Park to the Mausoleum which is located on Lovcen’s highest peak Jezerski vrh (1,657 m). 461 steps will take you to the ever-resting place of one of Montenegro’s most important rulers and poets, Petar II Petrovic Njegos. After the Mausoleum, the road will take us to the village of Njegusi, with one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the world and a mandatory photo stop. Apart from that, Njegusi is significant in the traditional cuisine for its well-known njeguski pršut (prosciutto) and cheese therefore njeguski sandwiches are included. On our way back, we are taking the other way around on the famous 25 serpentines (curves). They are an adventure for themselves and with the view of Boka Bay that follows us to the hotel.

Durmitor & Black Lake day

A journey to Durmitor National Park is like stepping into a landscape painting, where nature’s beauty unfolds in its most pristine form. Nestled in the northern part of Montenegro, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers a perfect blend of rugged mountains, glacial lakes, and lush forests. The adventure begins in the charming town of Žabljak, the highest town in the Balkans and the gateway to Durmitor’s wonders. Surrounded by peaks that touch the sky, Žabljak exudes a unique, tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal base for exploring the natural marvels of the region. A visit to the iconic Black Lake, known locally as Crno Jezero, is an absolute highlight. The lake’s serene, almost mystical waters invite you to take a leisurely walk along its shoreline, a trail that offers breathtaking views from every angle. With each step, you’ll feel a deeper connection to the untouched wilderness that makes this place so special. Durmitor National Park is not just about scenic beauty; it’s an open invitation to adventure. The call of distant birds, the rustling leaves in the breeze, and the gentle ripple of the Black Lake create a symphony of nature’s sounds that soothe the soul. A trip to Durmitor, with its enchanting Black Lake and the welcoming town of Žabljak, is more than just a visit to a national park; it’s an experience that connects you deeply to nature, leaving you inspired and rejuvenated.

Gastronomic Indulging and the Mysteries of Lipa Cave

In this unique adventure, we are going to explore the magic world of the underground Lipa cave. The cave is located 5km from Cetinje, under the viewpoint of Belveder, and has 2.5 km long passages rich in stalactites and other ornaments rarely seen in other caves. Lipa cave represents the cave’s natural beauty filled with lakes, underground streams and is the first and only tourist show cave in Montenegro now. The tour through the cave is guided by a specialized guide that will present you with a new world that will leave you breathless and refreshed, as you surely guessed that the temperature inside it is lower than the outside (constantly between 8 to 12 degrees Celsius). Something that makes this cave even more special is the possibility to have a drink in one of its grandiose halls. After this refreshing and exciting adventure, our next destination is not far from the cave, but it’s much warmer and quite welcoming. We are visiting the vineyards and the house of wine of our good friends of the Vukmirovic family, who have also known as professional beekeepers for decades. Here you can enjoy a romantic walk-through vineyards and various fruit trees, and the owner will show and explain to you the traditional way of making honey. In the ambiance of the old Montenegrin house, you will try several types of local liqueurs and wines as an aperitif, and three types of local traditional dishes, according to your choice. Return to Cetinje.

Perfect Match Trip

For this tour, we are embarking on a trip that will lead us to a perfect moment in time, where the River Bojana collides into the sea, the perfect match with the most memorable sunset of them all. From our starting point on the coast, we follow the panoramic ride and the first photo stop will be above Islet Stefan. After this, we will visit Manastir Rezevici and take a walk through its churches (Uspenje Bogorodice and Saint Trinity) and the monastery itself. The churches are known for their fresco paintings and beautiful gardens that we will enjoy, and the monastery is under the protection of UNESCO. We will continue our trip to Bar, an important port city on the coast of Montenegro. Our main goal in Bar is its old town, about an hour walk up a hill in the mountains. The Old town has had a dynamic history over the years and a lot of its fortification is ruined, but even now the ancient stones still whisper the story of Turkish baths, Roman aqueducts, and a citadel. The citadel is believed to be over 1000 years old. Although not a lot of people live here, there are few restaurants and museums worth visiting. After leaving these ivy-cloaked paved paths, we continue our request to another old monument, but this is one of peace. The Old Olive tree is a symbol of the city Bar and is the oldest tree in Europe. It is believed that it has been there for over 2000 years. The legend of the Old Olive tree says that feuding families would come to it and this is the place where they would make peace. When we come back from our time travel trip, we continue our run for the Sun. Depending on the weather, we can surely visit Long Beach, one part of approximately 15 km of sandy beaches with healing effects of sand, mud, and mineral sulfur. Our finishing point will be Ada Bojana, the farthest South of Montenegro, the very paradise where the river meets the sea. Here we will wait for the most spectacular sunset on the horizon. When we finish bathing in all its colors, here we recommend a soothing dinner before we finish our way back to the starting point.

Biogradska Gora & Monastery Morača Trip

This is a special tour that takes us to the National Park Biogradska Gora, one of the three remaining primeval rainforests in Europe. Even the road to the park is an adventure itself because it follows the route that goes through the Moraca River Canyon, known for its sharp cliffs and opalescent watercolors. Furthermore, we will take a walk in the garden of Monastery Moraca, which is built on the edge of the canyon. After that, we will continue our tour towards the National Park. Even to a less knowledgeable visitor, this forest leaves no one indifferent. With its trees over five hundred years old and some of them soar to 60m high and glacier lakes, all of this makes this park unique geo-morphological region not only for tourists but to researchers also. Apart from the forest, when you enter the National Park, the first thing you’ll see is its signature Biogradska Gora Lake. This lake provides a mesmerizing view and reflection of the whole environment. Here you can choose between swimming in it, embarking on a boat trip, and even kayaking. For those who like to enjoy nature a bit more, Biogradska Gora is one of the best marked national parks in the region. You can take a smaller path through the forest or a bigger one, that goes all around the Lake. After we’re finished with the walks or any other activity, we can complete the day at our friend’s restaurant in the canyon where you’ll try some of their best specialties, at your request.

Perfect Blend of Nature and Religion

This tour represents a blend of culture, history, religion, and nature of Montenegro. First off, we are going to one of the most important Orthodox sanctuaries of the spiritual life in the world, the Ostrog Monastery. Here you will see the lower and the upper Monasteries, attracting special attention from millions of tourists and pilgrims every year. You will admire the combination of the perfect blend of nature and religion in Monastery, bow to the miracle religious ornaments, and find out more about St Basil’s life and cult, spread among the believers of all three confessions. After this spiritually profound visit, our next stop will be something quite different, calming, and untouched nature of the River Crnojevica. The photo stops are a must because the view from the old authentic road is one of the most beautiful panoramic views in our country. When we finally come to the village you will have enough free time to wander around ancient bridges and architecture and have a lunch break at your request. Our guests will also have a trip that will take them through the riverbanks to the magic point where Skadar Lake meets the river. Sunset drives to Budva.
Day

Sweetest Goodbye

After breakfast and packing up, checking out, transfer to the airport.
Accommodation
Accommodation in 4* hotel in the center of the city Budva. Our recommendation is Hotel Bracera with its perfect position for a walk by the sea all the way to the old town.
Budva, often called the jewel of the Montenegrin coast, captivates with its blend of vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and rich history. The charming old town, with its cobblestone streets and ancient fortifications, whispers tales of centuries past, featuring landmarks like the Citadel and the Church of St. John. As the sun sets, the lively promenade comes alive with bustling cafes and restaurants, offering a taste of local cuisine and culture. The pristine beaches, from the lively Mogren to the serene Jaz, invite relaxation and adventure alike. With its stunning Adriatic backdrop and warm Mediterranean charm, Budva is a perfect destination for those seeking beauty, history, and vibrant energy.

19th September 2024

My 7 days tour of Montenegro was superb. I was based in a 5 star hotel in Cetinje & it was a real pleasure to come back to my suite every afternoon having seen & experienced yet more highlights of this amazing country. My guide & driver, Bobo, was able to answer all my questions so I learned a great deal about the history & culture. I really appreciated his company.

Montenegro is an underrated gem! The tour was perfect even though the weather wasn't at all times, but Borislav, our tour escort made sure we plan our day such that we make most of the sunny days as well as enjoy the rainy ones. The tour was well organized, well paced, communication was great and we were well taken care of at every step. We'd love to visit again someday cause 8 days isn't enough to explore this beautiful country!

The tour in Montenegro was really nice. Montours was an excellent partner from the planning stage to the very end. And our tour guide, Tihomir, was perfect! Montenegro is a lovely country and we hope to return to see more of it. We had some difficulties with the payment function on TourRadar's website and some of the communication seemed complicated, but we managed. Thank you! Carolyn

Montenegro is an underrated gem! The tour was perfect even Montenegro was a beautiful country and having a private guide was an awesome way to experience many parts of it. Bogdan was a calm and competent driver on the steep and winding roads, and shared restaurant recommendations and anecdotes about the country, as well as some laughs with us. We had the good fortune to accept an offer to switch our last two nights to Cetinje, a beautiful town that it was great to explore as it was very different from Budva, which we also very much enjoyed.
